Arsenal fans want the club to keep trying over a new contract for Bacary Sagna.

Arsene Wenger confirmed this morning that the club are no closer to a new contract for right-back Bacary Sagna.

As things stand Wenger has called the talks a ‘long process’ which has already seen the defender turn down three contract renewals which will leave some fans urging the club to cut him loose.

However, we ran a poll asking Arsenal supporters to vote on whether they thought Sagna was worth the trouble and 66% of those who took part said the club should keep trying to get him tied down to a new deal.

That request is understandable because Sagna is one of the most consistent full backs in the Premier League and the 31-year-old has plenty of experience which will help new and younger players gradually coming into that back four.

Reports have suggested that the reason the talks have consistently broken down is because of, unsurprisingly, a difference over some of the main terms.

Sagna is thought to want a three-year commitment from the Gunners with Arsenal thought to only be prepared to offer him a two-year extension on his current deal which expires in the summer.

It’s almost a case of who’s going to blink first but the message from Arsenal fans seems to be quite clear; stop messing around and give him what he wants to stay at the club
