Manchester United Given £150 Million For Major Squad Haul

Manchester United are braced for a major summer transformation as executive-vice-chairman Ed Woodward is prepared to pump £150million into the club to attract new players.

David Moyes’ side are in serious danger of failing to qualify for a Champions League spot and many pundits, including Roy Keane, believe United’s squad is far from good enough to compete.

Following comments made by Keane, in which he said United have ‘cut corners’ in the transfer window, Woodward is planning to renovate the squad to make them title challenges for next season.

Moyes has already spent a combined £65million on Juan Mata and Maroune Fellaini but according to the Express, he could be given between £150m-£200m to turn the side back into a force.

“It’s fair to say we are focused on strengthening the squad,” Woodward said.

“Our starting-point long-term strategy is focused on building a competitive squad that challenges for trophies. And we are looking at some players that perhaps may be sold this summer.”

United’s draw away at Arsenal last night leaves them in seventh place, 11 points behind Liverpool who snatched a last gasp winner away at Fulham in a dramatic 2-3 victory.
