News For Moyes? Man Utd Chiefs To Block Move For £24m Talisman

Striker: Robin Van Persie

Manchester United forward Robin Van Persie has been linked with the Old Trafford exit door in recent weeks, but reports today suggest that the club will block any attempts by the Dutch striker to leave the club.

Van Persie cut a frustrated figure during the side’s 2-0 Champions League defeat to Olympiakos on Tuesday and has been rumoured to be seeking a move away, with former side Arsenal said to be interested in a reunion with the forward.

However the Daily Mail believe that a summer move will be blocked by the Old Trafford hierarchy, who will be loath to let one of their few proven players leave the club.

Van Persie’s frustration appeared to have boiled over on Tuesday, with the Dutchman giving a post-match interview in which he suggested that the team were “lousy” and that his team-mates were getting in his way when he was trying to make runs.

The 30-year-old is the side’s top goalscorer this season, with 11 Premier League goals from 16 appearances. Despite this, he has frequently been linked with a move away from the club since David Moyes took over.

Moyes is in for a summer of rebuilding during the close season, meaning that he will be keen to keep Van Persie to avoid any added disruption to his side.
