Peter Crouch’s opener against Swansea City at the Britannia Stadium on Wednesday night left an unexpected trail of carnage.

The beanpole Stoke City striker slotted home from 12 yards to give the hosts the lead before Chico Flores’ second half leveller ensured both sides shared the points.

But it was Crouch’s goal that almost reduced Swansea to just six players when his effort floored five of the visitors in the process, leading to widespread concern as to whether they could continue.

Or it may have been planned, because it was strangely well choreographed…
