Premier League trio Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been put on high alert after is it revealed transfer target Ivan Rakitic has yet to agree a new deal at Sevilla.
The Croatian international has tracked by the top premier League after turning in impressive performances for the La Liga side this season.
The 25-year-old has just 17 months left on his contract and speculation has mounted that he is holding off signing a new deal amid interest that he could be playing in the Champions League with a different side next season.
Reported by talkSPORT, the clubs president revealed that the club and player were close to an agreement, however his brother, Dejan, admits there is still no news over a new deal.
He said: “Is everything done for the renewal of his contract? No, there is still no [new] contract. We're talking, of course, but nothing is decided yet. We are in contract with the club, but I emphasise that there is still no news.”
The midfielder, who is known for his attacking creativity, has scored 10 goals in 22 league appearances this season.
He was signed by Sevilla from Schalke 04 for a nominal £2 million.
