Leon roars louder than the Jaguar

Carlos Peña continues to impress in La Liga MX.

La Fiera did a number on Chiapas FC by destroying the Jaguares 3-0 at the Victor Manuel Reyna Stadium in southern Mexico. The current league champions have awoken from their slumber earning their third victory in a row in the Clausura 2014. The win catapults Leon to the 4th position in La Liga MX.

The local squad did not react to the pounding that Leon delivered in the first 45 minutes of play allowing the panzas verdes to do as they pleased. Luis Montes and Carlos “Gulit” Peña, members of the Mexican national team, had a great game, with an assist a piece.

Montes was the first to set up a goal in the 13th minute passing to Elias Hernandez who shot with his left directly into the net for the 1-0. Leon took over the field from that moment on.

Miguel Sabah appeared five minutes later and took advantage of the situation putting the ball into the net for the 2-0. Chiapas was falling apart on the field and Leon was demonstrating the game they used to win the Apertura 2013.

Gulit appeared for the final goal taking the ball into the area then crossing it to Mauro Boselli who fired it past the keeper for the final 3-0. Peña participated in what would have been fourth goal of the game, however, the linesman raised the flag calling the play offside.

Leon continued to dominate in the second half but were not able to break the net once more. La Fiera is climbing, doing well in both La Liga MX and the Copa Libertadores. Leon recently drew with Bolivar in Bolivia and had previously beaten Brazil’s Flamengo at the Nou Camp. Up next for Leon is Veracruz FC before travelling to South America to face Emelec of Ecuador in Copa Libertadores.

Chiapas will travel to Guadalajara to take on Atlas FC in their next game before facing Veracruz in Copa MX action.\
