Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka remains one of Liverpool’s top transfer targets with Merseyside boss Brendan Rodgers set to be handed a £70 million budget in the summer.

With the Reds mathematically assured of a place in next season’s Champions League and still on course for a maiden Premier League victory, the club’s hierarchy are aware their small squad will require significant  investment if they are to compete for silverware on four fronts.

Owner John W. Henry is believed to be willing to give Rodgers an initial £60 million with a further £10 million windfall due to be generated by the sale of fringe players such as Iago Aspas and Sebastian Coates, amongst others.

Meanwhile, the Northern Irishman is keen to reignite his interest in Konoplyanka, , report the Mirror, who was close to joining the club in January, only for the move to fail to be completed the deal ahead of the deadline.

Quick, capable on both flanks and an accomplished dribbler, the Ukrainian international would represent an excellent addition to Liverpool’s squad and is likely to be the first of at least two attack-minded arrivals.

Another primary target is Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who was strongly inked with the Reds before he joined the Bundesliga outfit last season.

Elsewhere, defensive reinforcements are also needed with moves for long term centre-back targets Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Marcos Rojo of Schalke and Sporting Lisbon respectively also in the pipeline.

With Liverpool only having been considered to be outside contenders for the top four at the start of the season, it is crucial that they add to their squad while they are on the crest of a wave and several of their rivals, most notably Manchester United, are experiencing a transitional period.
