Olympiakos deny agreement with Fulham over Kostas Mitroglou

Greek champions Olympiakos have denied reports that they have agreed a deal to sell striker Kostas Mitroglou to Fulham.

It was suggested that Fulham were close to signing the 25-year-old for a fee of around £11.5m on a four-year contract that would see the player earn around £8.24m.

Greek media also reported that Mitroglou is keen on joining Greece international team-mate Giorgos Karagounis at Craven Cottage.

But Olympiakos issued a statement which read: "There is still no definitive agreement with Fulham for Kostas Mitroglou.

"Discussions will continue on Wednesday but only for an agreement of more than 15 million euros (£12.36m)."

Last month Mitroglou extended his contract with Olympiakos until the summer of 2017.

Mitroglou, the leading scorer in the Greek Super League with 14 goals in 11 matches, is currently recovering from an injury he suffered in November in the UEFA Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain but is expected to be in action again this week.
