On the day that Gordon Igesund’s future as Bafana Bafana coach will be decided, the national team have dropped 10 places in the latest FIFA world rankings.

South Africa are now the 12th best country on the continent – and 64th overall –following the draw to Mali and defeat to Nigeria at the African Nations Championship.

It’s hardly the ideal scenario with the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers around the corner.

The Ivory Coast remain the best of the African teams, followed by Algeria and Cape Verde Islands, who have jumped a massive eight places. Ghana dropped 13 places, while Mali slipped 19 positions.

The top three of Spain, Germany and Argentina remain unchanged.
