United Want Schmeichel To Revive Former Glory

Manchester United could look to son of club legend Peter Schmeichel in the hope that he could bring with him the fortunes that his father brought to the club back in the early 1990s.

Kasper Schmeichel has followed in his father’s footsteps and become a goalkeeper, despite having started off as an outfielder, and currently plies his trade at the King Power Stadium with Leicester City.

The Danish ‘keeper already has eight Premier league appearances under his belt at Manchester City but has spent his last five seasons in League One and the Championship.

The Mirror reports that United are keen on the goalkeeper who is a free agent at the end of the season with his Leicester contract set to run out.

Schmeichel may be tempted to join the same club that were captained to Champions League success in 1999 by his father, although he would only pose as a back-up to David De Gea.
