Spurs And Barcelona Battle To Sign League One Starlet

Uruguay-born water carrier will be a free agent this summer. Some of the Premier League biggest clubs, as well as a plethora of European heavyweights too, are all said to be interested in signing highly rated young Charlton Athletic holding midfielder Diego Poyet, son of Gus Poyet, at the end of the season, according to reports in the Daily Express.

The former England Under-17 international has been enjoying an eye-catching campaign for the south-east London outfit, impressing in particular in the Addicks’ run all the way through to the last eight of the FA Cup recently.

And as a result, it is now understood that the likes of Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham and West Ham United are all keen on landing Poyet next season, although those top-flight sides also know that they will face stiff competition for the 18-year-old’s coveted signature from both La Liga champions FC Barcelona and Serie A giants Inter Milan too.

And with the Englishman’s current contract with the League One team now only running until the end of June, the defensive midfielder will be avaialble to pick up this summer on a lucrative Bosman-style free transfer.
