Italian club Cagliari have put a £8million price tag on defender Davide Astori, who has caught the attention of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Daily Express

Centre-back Astori, 27, has played over 140 times for the Serie A club and has seven international caps for Italy.

Reports this week have suggested Roma had a £5million bid for Astori rejected, leaving the door open for long-time admirers United and Spurs to make their moves.

United will be in the market for at least two defenders this summer with Nemanja Vidic heading for Internazionale, and both Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand seemingly closer to the door as the summer approaches.

Spurs too are likely to sign a number of defenders with both Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kabul linked with moves away from the London club.

Which club would be the best fit for Astori? Will Spurs and United be challenging for a top four Premier League finish next season? Join the debate
