Manchester United starlet Adnan Januzaj could be left out of Belgium's upcoming World Cup squad

Januzaj has committed his future to Belgium

Manchester United starlet Adnan Januzaj could be left out of Belgium's upcoming World Cup squad - despite recently opting to commit his international future to Marc Wilmots' side.

Januzaj had the option to play for a number of different countries - including England - however it was confirmed on Wednesday that the youngster had chosen to represent Belgium.

The 19-year-old may have expected to be thrown into the deep end by being called up to Belgium's 23-man squad for this year's World Cup in Brazil, however Januzaj's agent has revealed he has not been given any assurances over a World Cup spot.

Speaking to Belgium website Sport, Januzaj's agent Dirk De Vriese said on his client's recent decision: "Adnan's choice of the Red Devils came from the heart.

"Belgium is the most logical choice – he was born in Brussels, studied here and has his friends.

"His relationship with Kosovo and Albania made sure it was a difficult decision but his family supported whatever choice he made. But Adnan has not talked to coach Wilmots and has received no guarantee that he will be selected for the World Cup.

"He must first become a regular at United and then we will see what happens."

Januzaj has the chance to impress Wilmots between now and the end of the season under Manchester United's interim manager Ryan Giggs.

Wilmots is likely to keep a close eye on Manchester United's last four games of the season on the back of Januzaj's decision to represent the Red Devils.

De Vriese admitted Januzaj has had an 'emotional' week' following the departure of former Manchester United manager David Moyes.

"It has been an emotional week for him with the departure of coach David Moyes. Adnan is in his first full season and has been the only bright spot for United this year."
