Manchester United Left back Patrice Evra is out of contract in the summer and set to join club mate Nemanja Vidic at Inter Milan who are ready to offer him a deal.
English daily The Telegraph has reported today that United could have taken up an option to re-sign Evra – and he could have also triggered a new deal after making a certain number of appearances – but the French international is believed to have decided it is time to go.
Manchester United have heavily linked with a move for Southampton youngster Luke Shaw. United management is confident that an offer of around £27 million would be enough to price him away from St Mary’s. Chelsea were also interested in the signature of Shaw but now, they have turned their attention towards Filipe Luis of Atletico Madrid.
Manchester United are planning a complete overhaul of their squad this summer. It is being reported that United management does not want the so called “old guard” anymore more at Old Trafford which includes Evra also.
The Telegraph reports that United have send scouts to watch Luke Shaw on several occasions and they are convinced about his quality. Manchester are set to appoint Van Gaal as their new manager and Shaw could be the first signing under him. Telegraph also reports that a role in Van Gaal’s backroom staff is due to be offered to current interim manager Ryan Giggs.
However, it is being reported that Giggs only want a managerial role and even ready to pusrue his career elsewhere in order to fulfill his ambition. This is what Giggs earlier this week when about his managerial career plans: “It is a decision for the new manager and something he definitely has to consider. I would say there are more plus points than minus points with what the lads bring. They know the culture and the history and the way the club is run. It can definitely be a plus. Ultimately, it is down to the new manager.”
“It would be strange, but I’ve got a little taste of it and the last couple of weeks is a pretty good apprenticeship. I’m at a stage where it’s an option. I’m open to so many things but I’ve got to seriously think about it and that’s what I’ll do.”
Meanwhile, United captain Vidic has already agreed a deal with Italian giants Inter Milan. Reportedly, Vidic and Evra are good friends and the Serbian has asked his club mate to join him at San Siro.
