Ajax Coach Frank de Boer has rejected recent approaches from Premier League pair Liverpool and

Frank de Boer

Ajax Coach Frank de Boer has rejected recent approaches from Premier League pair Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, the Daily Telegraph has reported his twin brother Ronald de Boer as claiming.

Tottenham’s approach was said to have come in January, when Spurs were searching for a replacement for Andre Villas-Boas, while Liverpool made the offer last year, Ronald de Boer told talkSport.

“Frank has already denied Liverpool and Tottenham. Tottenham wanted to take him in January, but Frank said no,” Ronald said. “He also said no to Liverpool last year. He thought he was still not ready and wanted to learn more.”

Ronald de Boer added however that his brother would eventually make the move to the Premier League and a partnership with current Netherlands Coach Louis van Gaal at Spurs has been mooted, as has the possibility of Frank de Boer replacing David Moyes at Manchester United.

“Now he's ready, though,” Ronald de Boer continued. “We'll have to wait and see (what offers he gets). It's important for Frank to get the right club otherwise he won't leave Ajax. He's very happy there.”

Frank de Boer has been Ajax Coach since 2010 and was previously an assistant coach with the Netherlands. He has won the Eredivisie three times since stepping into the dugout after claiming five Dutch titles as a player, and a La Liga title with Barcelona in 1999.

He made almost 700 appearances in his playing career, with Ajax, Barcelona, Galatasaray, Rangers and two Qatari teams, while Ronald also played for Ajax, Barcelona and Rangers, as well as Twente.

Ferguson Wanted United To Demand £150million For Ronaldo

Ferguson Wanted United To Demand £150million For Ronaldo

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he told the club to demand a record breaking £150million from Real Madrid when they moved to sign star winger Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.

The Spanish club bought Ronaldo for what was then a world record transfer fee of £80million, although that figure has now been surpassed by their purchase of Gareth Bale from Tottenham last summer.

Ferguson has come out and said that he was disappointed to receive such a fee, insisting Real would have coughed up nearly double what they managed to pay for him, the Express reports.

"I told David Gill to ask for £150m. Perez would have paid,” Ferguson is quoted as saying in Spanish newspaper AS.

"The only thing that hurt me, and I said this repeatedly to David Gill, was that we didn't demand enough.

"I told David, 'Ask for £150m'.

"He said, 'Don't be silly. They'll never pay £150m'. I said, 'Ask for it because he's worth it'.

"We signed the deal . I think it cost £80m or so but I'll always wonder what Mr Perez would have said if we'd asked for £150m."

"Considering the fact that they signed Gareth Bale for £85m, I think he would have agreed to pay between £80m and £150m.

"I'm sure he would have because Perez knew perfectly the quality of player he was receiving, as shown by his time at United.

"Furthermore he was only 23. That is the only disappointing aspect."

Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or at the start of 2014 having become one of football’s greatest ever players during his five years in Spain.

The Portuguese superstar secured a vital point for Real against rivals Atletico Madrid on Sunday in a bad tempered 2-2 draw.

England coach Roy Hodgson has tipped Manchester United

England coach Roy Hodgson has tipped Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney to take over the Three Lions captaincy in the future.

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard currently wears the national armband. And while he is in fine form, at 33 years of age the Reds midfielder faces a challenge in making it to Euro 2016.

"Wayne, I'm sure, is a future captain of England because we are losing some of the famous players of the past who have served England so well," Hodgson is quoted as saying by the Mirror.

"Steven Gerrard's playing magnificently for Liverpool and has been a major factor in their season so far, and I wouldn't want to write him off [for Euro 2016] but maybe when the day comes for Gerrard to hang up his boots, Wayne will be straight in there I'm sure."

Hodgson also expressed happiness that Rooney had ended speculation over his career by penning a new five-and-a-half-year contract with United last week.

"I trust Wayne and even if his future hadn't been settled in this way he could have still focused on the World Cup," Hodgson said.

"It must be nice for him to know he's committed the bulk of his best playing years to Manchester United and England, so we're very happy for him and very happy for Manchester United and ourselves as well."

Football Federation Australia has confirmed the Socceroos will play Ecuador in a friendly in London next month.

Football Federation Australia has confirmed the Socceroos will play Ecuador in a friendly in London next month.
The match will take place at The Den, home of Championship side Millwall, and serve as preparation for the World Cup finals, where Australia will take on Spain, the Netherlands and Chile.
Ecuador, captained by Manchester United's Antonio Valencia, have also qualified for the tournament in Brazil, drawn in a group with France, Honduras and Switzerland.
"We're excited to have secured the match against Ecuador, which offers us a good test against South American opposition leading into the World Cup," Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou said in a statement.
"We have tried to secure opponents for the games leading into the World Cup to replicate the type of football we are expecting to face in Brazil and playing Ecuador gives us some quality South American opposition ahead of the first group stage match against Chile.
"This is also the last match we will play before we get together in May for our final World Cup preparations so it's important that we can build on the first positive steps we took in the match against Costa Rica late last year."
